{ginger} love

Hello my loves!

I am hot mess of germs, mucous and misery...and, trust, I look and feel exactly as *ahem* enticing as that sounds.

So, am keeping it real simple today with a quick recipe for Ginger Syrup.

What you'll need:

-1 cup peeled and grated fresh ginger root

-1 cup honey {or sugar or a combination of the two}

-2 teaspoons whole cloves

-4 cinnamon sticks

-1/2 cup fresh lemon or lime juice

-1 cup orange juice

The method:

-bring 6 cups of water to a boil and add the grated ginger, honey, cloves and cinnamon

-remove from the stove, cover and set aside in a warm place for at least an hour

-once your hour or so is up, strain the liquid through a fine mesh colander or a cloth in to a nonreactive pot or bowl {enamel, glass or stainless steel} and add the juices

-set aside in a warm place for another hour-ish and then store in the refrigerator to be used as desired

Suggested uses:

-add to tonic water for homemade ginger ale

-add to beer for an at home interpretation of ginger beer

-add to juices, tea or water for a nice kick

-create a fantastic and festive martini {our recipe: equal parts vodka, ginger syrup and cranberry juice}

And that. is. it.

Super simple, super healthy and your house will smell incredible.
